It was our first overseas holiday together, a trip to Tanzania in 2014 (long before the idea for this little internet baby was even conceived) that sparked our love-affair with this wild and diverse continent.

Between hikes up Kilimanjaro, safaris on the plains of the Serengeti, and lazy days on the beaches of Zanzibar, we experienced a country so richly diverse, friendly, and beautiful, we knew we had to come back.

Since then, we've also enjoyed the world-class wines of South Africa, stood at the edge of Victoria Falls in Zambia, watched gorillas in the steaming jungles of Uganda, canoed through the reeds of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, left footprints on the ancient sands of Sossusvlei, and hung out the back of a beat-up pickup with 20 locals heading to a peaceful mountain plateau in Malawi.

To say the rhythm and beauty of this continent has captured our hearts is to put it mildly.

This is a continent where rhythm rules all. The sound of lions as they prowl the savannah, the thunder of Mosi Oa Tunya (Victoria Falls), the soft plodding of elephant feet in the plains. The language and music of thousands of cultures coming together, the song 'Kilimanjaro, hakuna matata' as you stumble into camp after a hard day's trekking.

This is still a land of extremes; vibrant cosmopolitan cities exist alongside extreme poverty, unrivalled natural beauty gives way to arid, isolated deserts, and ancient traditions fight for a place alongside new technology. But there’s a cultural richness and beauty here that has to be experienced in order to be truly understood.
